Information
The starting point of my project was when I was making ceramics with a friend and realised that most newcomers to ceramics don't have much control over their shapes, and the distorted forms of the ceramics caught my eye.
During the preliminary research stage, I tried to make ceramics and extracted many distorted shapes in the process. I found that traditional ceramic production is carried out in special workshops, which are laid out in closed triple or quadrangle courtyards, consisting of three or four buildings open to the inner courtyard, and can contain the whole production of ceramics in addition to kiln firing.
In this process, I found that few people understand the process of traditional ceramics production, so I wanted to design an experiential space to simulate the working environment and feelings of the craftsmen in the workshop, which extracts the environmental characteristics of the various functional areas in the workshop, such as storage, kneading, shaping, drying, glazing. I hope to create a spatial atmosphere by extracting the specificity of the local site and the curves produced during the ceramic production process, so that people can understand the ceramic production process in a more interesting and immersive way.
